This is a carafe/decanter/sculpture by Etienne Meneau. He is a Frenchman that likes geometry. Some people think it looks like veins, but I think it looks more like branches. Regardless, it is pretty cool. The currency converter just told me it costs $3,302.89 (2500 Euros).
We have a beautiful carafe from Simon Pearce. I try to use it as much as possible. Wine really needs to breathe, but sometimes people don't plan for it and just open it and drink it. We also own a single serving aerator, but I think dumping the entire bottle in the carafe makes a world of difference. It needs to glug, glug and bubble, bubble to breathe properly. I think most red wine tastes better the day after you open it, but sometimes it doesn't last that long...
So cool! Can you even imagine me trying to then pour the wine out of that thing into a glass?! Yikes!!
ReplyDeleteHard to let it breath, when you almost breathe it in.
ReplyDeleteNow I have learned to practice.... open it when you cook dinner, have some while cooking, then when its time to eat, it has breathed.
What makes for a good carfare?....Could I use a Large Mason Jar?? Presto? or do i need a narrow/fluted top?
I think you can use anything that will hold a bottle of wine. I do not think the top has anything to do with it. Good idea about opening it when you begin cooking. The only catch with that is that husband is usually cooking the dinner and I am sitting around watching him, wanting the wine. Patience is a virtue, I guess. Ha!
