bringing back an old tradition

I was watching a No Reservations last night with Anthony Bourdain (love him!) and he was in a restaurant that still served crème de menthe parfaits.  It made me think of childhood and going over my grandparent’s house.  On special occasions, our Pops would allow my sister and I to make our own in one of the fancy, tall glasses that lived under his bar in the back room.  We would pour a few drops of green liquor into the bottom, and layer vanilla ice cream with more green liquor three or four times.  They were refreshing, delicious, and they made us feel so special.  We normally have chocolate ice cream in our home, not vanilla, but maybe next time at the grocery store I will grab some.  Old-fashioned things are wonderful.  Let’s bring back the crème de menthe parfait.
