I was quite crafty this past weekend. I had a long list of things I wanted to get done, and the few things I didn't get to can easily be done during the week after work. One of the projects I tackled was planting the seeds for our kitchen herb garden. The seeds arrived about a week ago and we finally saved up enough eggshells to plant two of every herb type. I hope to plant two seedlings in each pot, assuming they both grow. I used a turkey baster to water them, which was not only the smartest idea I ever had, but was also oddly enjoyable. Maybe that was my way of channeling my sister, the scientist lab person in the family. I think so...
It was interesting seeing the sizes of the seeds, as the cilantro was ball-like and quite large and the thyme was nearly impossible to plant by hand. I had to tap the thyme directly into the little hole I created in the soil. I have a good feeling about this endeavor and if I mess anything up, there are leftover seeds and I can start again. I can’t wait until they are growing and strong, and we can smell herbs while we stand and do the dishes. It will also be fun to share a photo of our herb pots with plants inside. Right now they are empty, which is why I keep sharing photos of the eggshell planters.
