wanting the color factor, but lacking the height

I am having a hell of a time trying to find planters for our front door area. The only affordable planters out there are short and fat. I need tall and skinny. Short, stubby planters will get lost against our home, which is NOT a mansion by any means, but we need some height people. I am all excited to plant colorful flowers and add some brightness, but if they only sit a foot off the ground they will get lost amongst our landscaping.

The two planters pictured are what I want and what we can afford, although if I could choose I would prefer one made of stone or cement. They are over two feet tall. The one on the left (stone) is $850. The one on the right (tin) is $39.95. I have a few stops to make this weekend to see if I can find another option, but I don’t know if I will find anything better than the one pictured (on the right, of course). On a happier note, I do know what I would like to plant inside of them – tall grass, purple potato vine, and orange/yellow lantana.
