and I thought it was bad before

my new home screen.
Things with my phone got better and then they got much worse. The end result was a brand new iPhone and thankfully I was still covered under my Apple Care (enter brand new FREE iPhone), but I lost all of my extra special texts and photos. Not pleased. Apparently iPhones have thirty pins inside of them. The phone will continue functioning if all the pins are not working, however the phone will not transfer data unless all thirty are in tip-top shape. Well, something must have happened to my phone between last Tuesday and last Friday. Another update came out Friday morning and I went for it. It appeared to have loaded and my phone even restarted, but then it froze. The screen had a picture of a charger and the iTunes icon. It wouldn't shut down. It wouldn't restart. It was frozen solid. I didn't have time to go to an Apple store until after work and after waiting for an hour, even though I had made an appointment, I was told I would have to restore my phone back to its factory settings - meaning anything that wasn't saved on the Cloud would be lost. I honestly had no idea what was saved and what wasn't. There were some things that were (calendar, notes, purchased and downloaded apps, and calendar appointments) and some things that weren't (texts and photos). Thankfully, a lot of my favorite photos are on Instagram. Unfortunately, a lot of private photos (no, not those kind - get your head out of the gutter Jodi) were not. The kicker is the thought actually crossed my mind earlier that week to save all of my photos, but I got busy and didn't. Idiot. When they tell you to back up your phone before an update - listen - or apparently if I had done the back up through iTunes everything would have been saved. Lesson learned.
