fresh air gives way to interesting tunes

I meant to write about this a few weeks ago, but other stuff kept coming up, or I just didn't write all (shame on me). I noticed that I have this ongoing pattern with songs popping into my head when I am working outdoors or hiking - songs that repeat the same word. A favorite of mine from my trail crew days is the song Split Open and Melt by the band Phish. There is a part that goes “Down, Down, Down, Down", which is quite fitting when you are tromping around mountains and the trail finally changes to downhill from uphill. Bruce Springsteen has a song called I’m Going Down that repeats the word “Down”, too - that one didn't start getting stuck in my head until after I met my husband - thanks toots! Another one that has recently popped in my head while doing yard work is Gypsy Woman by Crystal Waters (la da dee, la dee da), which also reminds me that I need to mow the lawn tonight. It isn't really a big deal; I just find it strange that out of all the millions of songs that are floating around my head, the ones with repetition seem to enter if I am outside breathing fresh air. I am embarking on a camping adventure this weekend and wonder which songs will pop up...
