I wanted to go apple picking two weekends ago, but never got around to it. Instead, I visited a farm market and purchased some local apples - Cortlands to be exact. I purchased twelve with the hopes of making either an apple dessert, or some apple sauce. After taking a minute to ponder about my recent eating habits (and more specifically drinking habits), I decided to choose the healthier option. I went for the sauce.
I cored, peeled, and sliced each apple and put them in a large soup pot. I added one and a half cups of water, along with a pinch of pumpkin pie spice and ground cloves, and a lot of cinnamon. No sugar needed for this recipe. I boiled everything down and had plans to send it through the food processor, but didn't need to. The boiling broke down the apples enough to make a chunky apple sauce. It is delicious and possibly the easiest recipe on earth. Make this please and get sauced!
