needing sleep and protecting my noggin

I am a total tray table sleeper on airplanes. Sleeping with a neck pillow does not work for me. Leaning on a window, or a shoulder does not work for me. I have slept on my husband's lap before, but that just looks wrong and it locks him into one position until I get up. I do prefer sitting in a window seat, so I can lay forward and face the wall of the airplane (instead of sticking my face out towards the aisle or in a stranger's thigh), but I definitely don't use it for looking out of or leaning on. Laying flat on a tray table is my dream...that is until the person in front of me reclines his/her chair.

I always wait at least a few minutes until after we've reached our cruising altitude before dropping it down and keeling over. I get so happy when I think I am in the free and clear and can sleep on a flight. (I really do not enjoy flying at all.) My happiness comes crashing down though when I finally do fall asleep and wake up to my head getting crushed into my neck. Enter the Knee Defender. It appears it was created for tall people, but this little apparatus could really help my sleep cause on flights. It is a small device that does not allow the airplane seat in front of you to recline back. It was in the news this week because a plane flying from Newark to Denver had to be diverted to Chicago after a fight broke out over it. I wouldn't really want it to go that far, but I do see a great benefit in it. It's on my list. I am going to do a little more research on it and potentially buy one for myself. Take that recliners - this girl needs her rest. Click here to buy your own.
