Our driveway. Our wood.

I am feeling really adult today; we just got a load of firewood dropped off at our home for the winter. That is so grown-up, I can't even get over it. We had a fireplace and an unlimited wood supply at our last home, so we never really had to worry about running out. Now we have a beautiful stone fireplace and a yard full of pine trees, which obviously cannot be used for indoor wood burning (we also have a number of ornamental trees, but they aren't big enough to be used as firewood...that would just be silly). After doing a bit of research about prices in the area, my husband placed the order last night and we are now the proud owners of an entire cord of wood. We have plans to have our first fire of the season this Friday, after we return home from one of our favorite restaurants on the planet (Drew's Bayshore Bistro). I cannot wait. The pile that is presently sitting in our driveway won't be quite as cool as it is today on Saturday, as we dedicate our morning to stacking it, but as long as we focus on the warmth and cozy ambiance inside our home all winter long and the cardio workout we will receive, I think we will be fine. This is our first cord ever. What a day!
