the big head

I can finally say that I have seen this big head in real life.  It is a sculpture by the artist Jaume Plensa, and it stands 45.93 feet (14 meters) tall in the middle of Madison Square Park in Manhattan.  It is SO cool, quite surreal, and I have been trying to see it since May – so I am REALLY excited.
The real name of the piece is Echo, not big head.  (That is just what I like to call it.)
The crazy thing is that it looks completely fake in this photo, AND it looks that fake in real life, too.  It is kind of amazing and disturbing, and I really wanted to pick its nose.
I came into the city very early this morning with my husband – he was catching a flight San Francisco – and decided to embark on a morning adventure.  Mission accomplished!  This thing is awesome.
I say visit it if you can...and stop off at nearby Eataly and grab a small dish of pistachio gelato - so salty, so delicious.
