scrabble letters

Last year I set up two Scrabble stands on the mantle and spelled out Happy Holidays.  This year I have two stands set up on a shelf with Joy to the World spelled out.

It is an easy way to display a holiday greeting...unless of course you want to actually play the game.  This idea can be used year-round, but I have only used it during the winter months.  I wonder what it will say next year?

The vase in the background is filled with dried split peas.  I wrapped the top of the vase with chunky yarn to match the hurricanes on the mantle.  Texture, texture, texture.  The vase and surrounding smaller vases are filled with pussy willows.
