a different kind of tablet

I saw a post on a design blog about these chalk tablets.  They are sold in a set of three for $60.00.  They also come with a Koh-I-Noor chalk pencil.  I never knew there were chalk pencils, but now I do.

When I think of tablet, I instantly think of an Ipad.  We have yet to own one, but I am sure we will at some point.  My husband has been talking about getting one for quite some time now.  He asked me if I preferred one over the Kindle Touch he got me for Christmas, but we already own a MacBook Pro and I thought they were too similar.

Kindle’s are also compatible with book catalogs at libraries, meaning you can “rent” your Kindle books for free and not have to buy each and every one.  They come with a two week limit and you can’t renew, but free is better than $10, especially when I am crushing books – sometimes two per week.  I guess the chalkboard tablet can’t really provide me with that, although I still think they are very cool.

  1. I agree. Cool indeed. You are crushing books at an impressive rate, and there is something to be said for an actual book. The smell. The page flipping. You can't beat it. In my opinion, although practical, these devices can't replace that experience.

  2. I do miss the pages on occasion. What I don't miss is shlepping around a gigantic hardcover book.
