Summer time = fun in the sun, and fun in the sun makes me crave margaritas. I have learned the hard way that margarita mix gives me horrible heartburn, so taking the easy way out is no longer an option. Last weekend we had a smattering of cousins over for a mexi feast and decided to accompany it with homemade margaritas. After scouring the interweb for quite some time, I came up with this recipe.
The Pellegrino we used was the Blood Orange kind that comes in cans. This ingredient can also be substituted with apple juice if you want a touch more sweetness, instead of the added sour. Actually, I think a few droplets of apple juice would have made these even better, too, but we didn’t have any. The orange was Patron Citronge and when that ran out, Triple Sec. The numbers on the post-it are in ounces, and this ratio makes enough to fill three rocks glasses. We also juiced all of the limes into a pitcher before everyone arrived. That was a smart move on our part. Then, we measured and poured the ingredients into another pitcher, gave it a stir, and served it over ice. Cheers!
