I am presently working for an international non-profit (new job, woohoo!) and we have trinkets from all over the world (tastefully) scattered about our office. *Please note if this was Clutter Fest 2012, I would not be working here.* This morning, someone wound up a music box (aka trinket) in the office and it began to play. It reminded me of childhood and falling asleep to music boxes - and yes I mean to make the “box”-es plural. My sister and I had music boxes, musical globes, and other ceramic music playing statues that turned as they played from all over, because our Dad used to travel to different countries for his job and bring them home as gifts.
It surprised me thinking and remembering this because instead of having Mom and Dad wind up one, we would have them wind them ALL. (Or at least I did. I don’t really know what my sister did because her room was down the hall.) It was such a comforting sound at the time, but when I think of falling asleep to it now, I have to laugh. It was such a mish-mash of noise and music. I am sure it just made us happy knowing our parents tucked us into bed. Getting tucked in is the absolute best. I didn't have that exact one pictured above either. It just closely resembles the ones I actually did have.
