That's one of my lamps on the floor of our living room! |
A certain someone I know LOVES tag sales (yard sales, flea markets, rummage sales, estate sales, etc.). I do not necessarily like them because I find myself more frustrated and disappointed, then being joyful due to a great find, but I do have to report on my recent success(es). When we first moved down to Jersey and my husband started traveling, I tried to find things to do in the area on weekends. One day, I went to a church rummage sale. I admit it. Everything there was awful, except for these two lamp bodies (as in the harps, light bulbs, lampshades, and finials were NOT included). I asked the nice man how much they were and he responded with, “$2.00 for the set”. I paid him his money, grabbed them, and ran. Although they required finding a few parts and a little bit of work, I was sure I would tackle the not-so-daunting project in the upcoming weeks.
The lamp bodies sat on the floor of our basement for two years. It wasn’t until last weekend that I got my sh*t together and headed to the lamp store. Now, I don’t want to go tooting my own horn here, but it was super easy and between the lampshades ($29.90 for 2), harps ($9.90 for 2), finial (had 1, needed to buy 1 for $2.95), and lamp bodies ($2 for 2), we are now the proud owners of two gorgeous lamps that cost a total of $22.15 each. I really knocked it out of the park with this project. There are two very similar lamps for sale on a certain website for a store I will refer to as PB, which are selling for $100 and $110. I am really proud of myself. I will probably not be visiting any tag sales anytime soon because I feel like I really lucked out and need to ride this wave of happiness for quite a while. Not to mention, they just plain scare me.
