it happened…i danced again

dance by henri matisse
My very dear and gracious friend talked me into dancing again. It had been eight years and I was beginning to think it was never going to happen, but it did. She was looking for some inspiration for a piece she had to choreograph, and I am not sure she found any in me, but I danced…and it felt nice. (I wanted write great, but at times it didn’t. I felt stuck and my arms hurt because they are weak.)

I was also a little concerned about memorizing a lengthy piece, and didn’t know until I got there that she was more interested in having us improve. That was good news and bad news. Phew because my memory isn’t quite what it used to be and I lose track of what I am talking about in a thirty-second story, but worried that I was going to be stuck and not know where to move next. Thankfully, she had some mugs filled with wine, which definitely helped. Needless to say, it was a very different experience from most of my dance memories – no mirrors, big t-shirts, we let our down at one point, and drinking. I think I could get used to that kind of dancing.
