Last Thursday evening I was lucky enough to attend the Madonna concert held at Yankee Stadium with my sister. The tickets had been purchased months ago as a birthday gift to her, which ended up being a gift to me too, because let’s face it - it was totally awesome. The excitement of having the tickets definitely wore off because they were purchased so long ago, and it wasn’t until we were outside of the stadium and heard her sound check that it became real. We stopped dead in our tracks and looked at one another and said screeched (let’s be honest), “that is really Madonna”. It was such a strange feeling to hear a voice that you have heard a gazillion times from records, tapes, CDs, iPods; only to realize it was live.
She definitely pushed the envelope during a few occasions, but she’s Madonna and that’s what she does. I don’t know how she does it either, but she can still move like no other. That woman can DANCE! Thankfully, she played quite a few oldies, which is what we wanted to hear most. I wish we got a Burning Up, which I think is one of her most overlooked oldies. I really love that song. Strike a pose!
