they call me mellow yellow

is that a yellow kitchen?  yes.
is it our yellow kitchen?  nope.
Where has my head been? Oh yeah, I have been swamped at work and trying to figure out stuff for the home. I thought everything would slow down once summer was over, but in the words of a dear friend “tricked again”. September seems like our busiest month yet, and October should be interesting once the floor project begins and we can’t use our entire downstairs. Good bye kitchen, good bye washer and dryer, good bye little half bathroom. I really shouldn’t be complaining though, because once the floor is finished, we can unpack and start setting up the dining room and the den. Those are the only two rooms I have concrete plans for, so that will be exciting (although my concrete plans include a few furniture pieces and some artwork).

The kitchen came together with the help of my husband. He painted, switched out the obnoxious florescent light for a stylish ceiling fan light, worked with the HVAC man to get the gas stove hooked up, and installed our daily systems boards. It was his idea to go with the brighter yellow, too, and although I was a bit nervous of going more sunflower than marigold, I am thrilled. I love a yellow kitchen. We had a yellow kitchen on our tiny home in Fort Collins, Colorado, and in my opinion, it is the best color a kitchen could be. I will share photos of our kitchen once we add a few finishing touches. Being a homeowner is quite fun!

  2. When I finish the painting project I started last spring (speaking of busy lives!), my kitchen will also be yellow... And Mexican chile... And eggnog. :-) I started by trying to match the saffron yellow I had in our VT kitchen but nothing felt right so I went with a lovely corn silk. Yay yellow! :-) And yay for home projects! :-)

  4. Congratulations on the house, K! I can't imagine how fun it will be to get it all set up. Like playing house, but with a real house. . .
