Wow. Time is flying. I stay in Jersey during my 4-day Thanksgiving break, so I can prepare myself for the holidays, but we spent the majority of our time settling into our home. We have a new couch, a new rug, a real dining room, art on the walls, and we ordered a coffee and console table last night. Things are really coming together, which feels great, but as you may have noticed, the following items are missing from my list; Christmas tree, wreath on the front door, Christmas cards, Christmas decorations, gifts, and a cookie list.
I need to get on the ball here. I have plans to make my own wreath with the greenery that fell during the storm…more to follow on that project in another post, which will hopefully happen tomorrow because I need to start crossing things off my holiday list. I also realized we don’t have a proper mantle. Where am I going to set up my clever Christmas décor? I have no idea because we are also running a little low on shelving. What I can tackle is; real, evergreen garland down our banister, which will also be where our stockings hang, a cookie list, and painting pinecones. The pine trees in our back yard yielded the most beautiful pinecones. I am going to take inspiration from this photo and add them to the evergreen garland, use them as garland on our tree (we don’t presently have yet), or hang them in some other area that needs holiday “sprucing”. I still haven’t decided what colors to paint them, though I must admit I do like the white, yellow, and natural.
