I am here. I am healthy. I am alive. Our new home is fine. Everything is well in the land of our little family, although we both wish conditions were a lot different in the surrounding areas of where we live. I am back at work and see that there are quite a lot of places that are back to business as usual, but I can’t help thinking about the people that lost their homes and all of their belongings from this bitch of a storm. What is remarkable (not in a good way) is that the little clamming/fishing towns by us have not even been mentioned once in the news. There are thousands of people left with nothing and although the Red Cross is putting on fundraisers and FEMA is reaching out to people, they are nowhere to be found in northern Monmouth County, New Jersey. We cleaned out our drawers and closets and sent a load of clothes and bath products to the nearby shelter (aka school), but wish there was more we could do. I do have to work for the rest of the week, but I am hoping there is something I can do over the weekend. I would be more than happy to lend a helping hand to the people in need.
Such a great post Kristen. There needs to be more attention brought to those who have lost everything. Thank you.
