A few weekends ago my sister and I took a field trip into the hills of western Massachusetts with our mom. Unfortunately, the place we set out to visit was closed, but to our pleasant surprise we found an open pottery studio down the road - the pottery studio of Andrew Quient. My sister got a wine decanter and I got a green cup for water in our master bathroom.
I have been collecting pottery since high school. I thought about collecting enough mis-matched pieces to use as our main dishes and cups, but in the end decided to register for more traditional pieces (though they did come from Simon Pearce and are very pottery-like). I think pottery is great. Each piece is unique and I absolutely love the earthy look. I was able to use a few of my pieces to decorate our den, and I am sure as we become more and settled, I will be able to display some of the other pieces around our home. I have never actually crafted a piece myself, but I think it is probably better that way. I can only imagine what that would like...and what I am envisioning now is my hair getting stuck in the wheel and clay flying everywhere. I think I will stick to running, hiking, and baking.
