touchdown, field goal, pass the...turkey

We decided to do the whole Super Bowl thing a little differently this year. Last year we went very traditional, as my husband’s team was actually playing and we had people over. (And the Giants won. I know he wouldn’t be happy if I left that out.) This year, we don’t really care who wins and we don’t really want to eat a bunch of super fatty snacks all day long, so we are going to make a Thanksgiving dinner. We may have one fatty hors d’oeuvre and a fatty dessert, but the meal will be relatively healthy (minus the amount of butter in the mashed potatoes).

We spent actual Thanksgiving in New Jersey and woke up the Friday after and were wondering how we were going to make our turkey sandwiches without any turkey, cranberry sauce, etc. We weren’t really given any leftovers, which made this burning desire for a turkey sandwich pretty unattainable. Although we gorged on a great meal on November 22nd, we ended up feeling a little bit cheated. This Sunday’s meal will come to our rescue! Hopefully, we cook enough food that we will have leftovers for an entire week. Then we will really get our fill and not want to hear the word turkey again until November.
