The new jacket I got for my birthday leaked feathers bad. Read about here. What should I have done with it? Returned it and bought a new one. What did I do instead? Hand-stitched three panels of quilting material around the interior of the jacket. Did it work out? Yes. Is the puffy coat even warmer than it was before? Yes. Was it a bitch hand-stitching three panels to the interior of a jacket? Sure was…but it was well worth it.

It is now perfect, and every once in a while I see a feather or three, but I couldn’t say good-bye and was willing to put in the extra work. There are SO many puffy coats out there that are just big and puffy, and have no shape to them. However, this jacket is super stylish. It is fresh and funky, and I will have it forever. And maybe if I get really motivated, I can stitch in another layer and make it even warmer!
