the first three shells, sitting in my new ceramic egg carton |
We are pretty far from having actual herbs, but we have collected five egg shells (photo was taken Saturday and we collected two more shells on Sunday) and decided which six herbs we want to plant (rosemary, basil, thyme, cilantro, dill, and chives). I was initially going to build our herb garden with reclaimed wood and Ball jars, but instead, found a set of three cute little red pots that fit on a matching tray at West Elm on sale for fewer than $8.00. The said pots will sit above our kitchen sink on L-brackets we bought at Lowe’s that will spray paint black. Hopefully, the south facing window will provide enough light for our herbs to grow and grow. However, before that happens, we need to figure out where we want to purchase the seeds from, plant them, let the little seedlings grow, and then transplant. I also decided that I wanted the seedlings to grow inside egg shells. Once the seedlings are full grown, you crack the shell and plant them. Talk about organic gardening, right?!?!?
