We are trying to tackle the foyer and have been flip-flopping with what to include in the space. We finally settled on wanting a bench, a place to hang coats, a mirror, and a boot tray. I have been scouring Pinterest since our pre-house days trying to pinpoint the perfect set-up, but I keep getting held up by the following notion: why are people putting coat hooks over wooden benches? Do these people ever leave the confines of their home and get wet, or snowy? Ugh, this bothers me a lot. Of course it looks adorable set up this way, but it just doesn’t make sense. Welcome to reality people! I would love to do mirror over bench, then hooks over boot tray, but instead of dripping on the bench, you will have wet jackets dripping on shoes. That doesn’t work either. I am thinking we will purchase two boot racks, and place one on the western side of the foyer for actual shoes and boots, and then the other on the eastern side under the coat rack for drippy jackets.
ha! so true. it must be those one-season folks. i can't wait to see what you guys come up with!
ReplyDeleteMe too. Whatever it is, I just hope we end up liking it. I want functional, stylish, and contained. I am mostly nervous about the contained part because it seems like the things we want, combined with the set-up that makes the most sense, will be really spread out.
