The first exciting piece of the weekend worth mentioning was our dinner on Friday evening. We are huge fans of the American Flatbread restaurant in Burlington, Vermont, and learned last month one opened in Tribeca. We had to keep reminding ourselves it was not going to be exactly like Burlington, but it was familiar enough that it made us happy. The big differences are; you can make reservations (even for a party of two), the nitrate free pepperoni is more of a baked sausage than a large slice of pepperoni, it’s located by the entrance to the Holland Tunnel (and not a block from Church Street), and they don’t make their own hot sauce. We really enjoyed ourselves though, and are excited to try more of their special flavors.
We did a half and half pie with Mopsy’s Kalua Pork (house smoked free-range pork shoulder, homemade organic mango BBQ sauce, organic red onions, pineapple, VT Butter & Cheese chevre, whole milk mozzarella, Blythedale Farm Cooksville grana, grana padano and fresh herbs) and Pepperoni & Peppers (all natural, nitrate-free house-made pepperoni baked w/organic green peppers, organic onions, whole milk mozzarella, Blythedale Farm Cooksville grana, grana padano, our house-made organic tomato sauce and fresh herbs). And of course, we drank some Vermont beer. Click here to check out the menu.
