Goodbye My Love. |
I almost planned our entire Saturday in NYC around an art installation, but decided to plan it around food instead (says the fat kid). We did end up visiting the art, but were a little disappointed. The art I had planned to see was called Human Nature by the Swiss-born, New York-based artist Ugo Rondinone. The name made me ecstatic because it (of course) made me think about Michael Jackson. I love Michael Jackson. However, this Human Nature was made of rocks and was a lot smaller than I was envisioning. Michael Jackson’s rendition is WAY better by about 10,046 times.
Before we met up with my mom, we stumbled upon another art installation in Midtown. This art was called Goodbye My Love (Adios Mi Amor) by the Cuban artist Esterio Segura. It made me think about saying goodbye to my husband when he goes away for work, only this was way less sad because 1. he was with me, 2. it was shiny and red, and 3. it is made up of hearts with wings. Some of the hearts looked a bit dusty on top, but the under carriages sparkled. I wouldn’t necessarily go out of my way to see either, but if you’re in the neighborhood, check them out.
