hamburger cookies, super cute AND delicious |
Our guests were very generous and brought over some delectable treats and I put together a few things (the husband didn’t get home from work until Sunday at noon, so it was up to me to provide some of the fatty delights). I am proud to say that everything came out great. I made savory items that didn’t come out too watery, salty, burnt, or congealed. Miracle.
I made a chicken chili, stuffed breads (using French bread – cut off the top third, hollow out the middle, make two layers of pepperoni or ham, cheese, and peppers, put the top back on, wrap it tinfoil, throw it in the oven at 350 for 30-40 minutes, let cool, slice – genius idea my sister told me about), baked s’mores bars, and mini hamburger cookies (pictured above). The hamburger cookies really impressed the guests, so I will share the directions with you:
Sesame Seeds, Touch of Honey, Top Bun: Nilla Wafer, Mustard: Frosting Dyed Yellow, Lettuce: Coconut Dyed Green, More Mustard: Frosting Dyed Yellow, Tomato: Two-Inch Slice of Strawberry Fruit by the Foot, Ketchup: Frosting Dyed Red, Burger: Grasshopper Cookie, More Ketchup: Frosting Dyed Red, Bottom Bun: Nilla Wafer
We used to make these with white and yellow frosting for mustard and mayonnaise, but I am more of a ketchup and mustard girl these days. I recommend making them the day before you need them because the Nilla Wafers get soft and make it less messy to eat. What is really crazy is that Nilla Wafers come 80 to a box and Grasshopper Cookies come 40 to a box, so it works out perfectly. Enjoy and Go Cubs!
Those cookies are amazing!
