The green and white chairs are the box seats. That area wasn't too crowded the day we went. |
My sister and her husband came down to visit us a few weeks ago. We divided our Saturday between two places – the beach (of course) and the racetrack (Monmouth Park). I have lived in New Jersey for over two years now, and this was my first time at the racetrack. It was a blast. I am so glad we went.
My only real experience at a racetrack was back in 1994. I went to bet on the ponies in Saratoga Springs, New York, with a friend and her family. We dressed up and brought a picnic. We were even allowed to place bets, which I am sure was pretty illegal, but fun none the less. The racetrack in New Jersey is not quite as fancy as the one in New York, but it was still a very good time. Us girls didn’t really place too many bets, but the boys did, and ended up on top. (Phew!) We were more interested in catching up and spending their winnings on white wine.
The best part of the racetrack was the little man that comes out and blows his horn before each race. It was live and he was amazing. I may look into that as a second job on the weekends...
Wasn't that a female? I thought it was a girl and not a boy. (note to self, bring binoculars next time)
ReplyDeleteDefintely thought it was a guy with a top hat and a suit-like outie on. Maybe that was the white wine talking...
